Anesthesiology & Comfort Care
for Pets of the Tri-State Area

Veterinary Anesthesia at The Veterinary Specialty Center of Delaware
At the Veterinary Specialty Center of Delaware (VSCD), we offer expert anesthetic care and pain management provided by Dr. Laurie Sorrell-Raschi. In addition to providing acupuncture to patients, Dr. Sorrell-Raschi is a board-certified anesthesiologist with nearly 20 years of experience in the field. Becoming board-certified requires extensive training that is focused only on a specific area, such as anesthesiology. Anesthesiologists must pass a qualifying exam as well as meet any additional requirements for acceptance into their specialty college.

Dr. Sorrell-Raschi is dedicated to making the anesthetic process as safe and comfortable as possible for all of our patients, even the most fragile patients with problematic histories.

Pets already under physical stresses from injury or illness are in a delicate condition requiring even more careful monitoring during procedures requiring anesthesia. Dr. Sorrell-Raschi’s extensive experience and training working with patients in critical condition makes her the best choice for serving the pets of the Delmarva Region.

In addition to her primary role overseeing Veterinary Specialty Center of Delaware’s anesthesia services, Dr. Sorrell-Raschi provides pain management services to patients throughout our hospital. She has a wealth of experience with multiple pain management techniques, including therapeutics such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and opioids. She also is experienced providing local anesthetic and analgesic techniques such as epidurals, nerve blocks, and regional blocks.

Dr. Sorrell-Raschi is trained in acupuncture, which can be a valuable aid for patients undergoing surgery, cancer treatment, and chronic pain management.
