Veterinary Oncology

Compassionate, specialized cancer care for your dog or cat.

Unfortunately, cancer is a frequent and serious condition in dogs and cats of all ages.  At the Veterinary Specialty Center of Delaware, we understand that when your pet is diagnosed with cancer, it can be a very stressful and emotional time.

Dr. Carrie Hume, a board certified oncologist, is trained to diagnose and treat canine and feline cancer.  Her advanced knowledge in small animal medical oncology allows her to provide information regarding the most advanced treatment options available for your pet, including surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, and pain control.  This information allows a pet's family to make the best decisions they can about their pet's care.

Our oncology services include:

  • Canine and feline cancer staging.

  • Canine and feline chemotherapy administration.

  • Immunotherapy.

  • Consultation/referral for radiation therapy.

  • Pain management.

Our oncology department works closely with the other specialists at VSCD to ensure all aspects of your pet's condition are addressed thoroughly and compassionately.  At the Veterinary Specialty Center of Delaware, our goal is to provide our clients and patients with the tools necessary to maintain an excellent quality of life and preserve the cherished bond between animals and their caregivers.
