A board-certified veterinary dermatologist is a veterinarian who has completed extensive training in dermatologic and allergic disorders, and is certified by the American College of Veterinary Dermatology (ACVD). This certification requires several years of additional training beyond the eight required for veterinary school, plus passing a rigorous examination.
